Evolution in Motion: The Perfect Stranger Transition (1986)
In the life of a working musician, the music never truly stops; it just changes shape. This photo shoot dates to around 1986, shortly after we had made the move from Ohio to California. At this stage, we were still performing under the Perfect Stranger banner, though the seeds of the next chapter—Oh-10—were already being sown.
Even as the lineup shifted, the core of the group remained committed to the goal. We kept our gear loaded, our sets tight, and our eyes on the stage. That’s the nature of rock and roll: you regroup, you retool, and you live to play another day—or night.
The Lineup (Perfect Stranger Era):
- Back Row: Jeff Russell (Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals)
- Center Row (L-R): Scott McWilliams (Drums), Tippy (Keys & Backing Vocals), Ray Wolf (Bass & Backing Vocals)
- Front: Raymond “Monie” Kulick (Lead Vocals)
This era was a bridge. It represented the resilience of a group of musicians who were determined to make it in the L.A. scene, regardless of the hurdles. It was this same core that would soon solidify into the Oh-10 lineup, carrying the same “Formula” we had refined since our early days in the Midwest.
